“This year's Policy Address proposed promoting yacht tourism. The industry welcomed the policy direction, but also pointed out that Hong Kong is seriously short of yacht berths and the complicated procedures for foreign yachts to come to Hong Kong are obstacles to the development of yacht tourism. The industry recommends that the government set up an inter-departmental committee to improve efficiency and promote the development of yacht tourism. The number of berths has not increased in 20 years, which has hindered the development of the Hong Kong Yachting Industry Association. Chairman of the Hong Kong Yachting Industry Association, Zhou Jilun, said that the number of recreational vessels in Hong Kong has tripled to more than 13,000 in the past 20 years, but the number of berths has not increased in the past 20 years.”
